La Alhambra protagonista en el aclamado videojuego Assassin's Creed: La Hermandad

La Alhambra de Granada será uno de los escenarios principales de la primera expansión del videojuego Assassins Creed la Hermandad , "La Desaparición de Da Vinci"(PS3, XBOX 360 y PC (19/03)). A juzgar por las primeras fotos y vídeos, el palacio nazarí lucirá espectacular, siendo la primera vez que el monumento más visitado de España protagoniza de esta manera un videojuego.

Assassins Creed: La Hermandad en la Alhambra estará disponible a principios de marzo, por 9,99 euros en el bazar de descarga de las respectivas consolas y vendrá incluido en las ediciones de PC que saldrán a la venta el 19 de Marzo.

La Alhambra tendrá 'Puerta Nueva', gracias al proyecto firmado por los arquitecto Álvaro Siza y Juan Domingo, que ha ganado el concurso internacional de ideas para reordenar los accesos al monumento. «Lo que más nos ha preocupado es que el edificio estuviera muy integrado en el entorno, que no fuera impactante», comenta Juan Domingo. «El objetivo de este proyecto consistía en mejorar las condiciones de las actuales instalaciones de recepción a los visitantes del monumento, que eran muy precarias», añade el arquitecto. «Lo que queríamos es que la entrada a la Alhambra estuviera a la altura del monumento», insiste el coautor de la 'Puerta Nueva'.

Los dos arquitectos pensaron que la unión de la Alhambra con la ciudad de Granada se establece a través de sus puertas, y «ahora en el siglo XXI tendrá una nueva puerta, pero que esté contenida en el monumento», dice Juan Domingo.

This month’s museum piece is the Nasrid capital. Every Saturday from noon onwards, the Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife (PAG) offers this free activity, led by Javier Moya, Doctor in History of Art, in Room VI, with a presentation which aims to reveal the peculiarities of this Nasrid constructive and decorative element.

Within the context of Islamic art, it was during the Nasrid period when the capital first became totally integrated into its architectural context. Although initially standardised in its cubic form, the Nasrid capital developed in response to a series of procedures which allowed it to evolve in order to adapt to certain architectural requirements. One of these procedures was breaking with the square section of the abacus (in reality the whole upper block of the capital), making it polygonal, thus multiplying the facets of the capital and allowing it to be inserted into central-plan constructions.

The Patronato de la Alhambra y el Generalife opens stables of the Tower of the Battlements to the public on March. Every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sundays, from 8:30 to 18:00 hours, to March 14, and from 8:30 to 20:00 hours, from March 15 to March 31, the tourists who access the monumental complex, will have the opportunity to know this space closed to the public visit due to conservation matters, presenting the general ticket.

The Tower of the Battlements had a defensive function over the Arrabal Gate, which is located at the base of the tower. Together with the Armas Gate of the Alcazaba, also located on the north flank of the Alhambra, it was one of the accesses that communicated the Alhambra with the city. The Arrabal Gate has a vaulted passage way which leads into the soldier’s quarters, bulwark and stables.

The Alhambra, Generalife and Albaicin minted in € 2 coins

The Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre-Real Casa de la Moneda minted and put into service in 2011 a series of legal tender coins of two euros, commemorating the Alhambra, Generalife and Albaicín of Granada.

According to a Ministry of Finance published by the Official State Bulletin (BOE), the mint continues the theme begun with the ministerial order of December 9, on property or sites on the World Heritage List UNESCO.
