The Alhambra, Generalife and Albaicin minted in € 2 coins

dos euros alhambra patio de los leonesThe Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre-Real Casa de la Moneda minted and put into service in 2011 a series of legal tender coins of two euros, commemorating the Alhambra, Generalife and Albaicín of Granada.

According to a Ministry of Finance published by the Official State Bulletin (BOE), the mint continues the theme begun with the ministerial order of December 9, on property or sites on the World Heritage List UNESCO.

The maximum volume of emissions of these coins will be eight million pieces, which may be extended by 20%, says the BOE.

The obverse of these coins shows in its central part an image of the Patio de los Leones in the Alhambra in Granada, next to which the word Spain, arranged in a circle, and the year of issue, 2011.

Member States may issue € 2 commemorative coins once a year, this has been going on since 2004. These coins have the same properties, and common side other currencies. What differentiates them is the commemorative set out in the national side. For the issuance of commemorative coins can be used a value of 2 euros.
